Revealing the mechanism folding irreversibility during Morphogenesis?
A collaborative research group including Associate Professor Satoru Okuda of Nano Life Science Institute (WPI-NanoLSI) / Sapiens Life Sciences, Evolution and Medicine Research Center, Kanazawa University, and Teranishi Aki (graduate student) on Division of Nano Life Science, Graduate School of Frontier Science Initiative, Kanazawa University / a student in the WISE Program for Nano-precision Medicine, Science, and Technology of Kanazawa University, MEXT, have elucidated the mechanism by which folds in epithelial sheets are irreversibly formed by the accumulation of actin molecules in L-shaped metal fittings.
