Public Pension for Students

All residents of Japan are insured under the National Pension Plan from the time they turn 20 years old and are required to pay premiums.

All persons residing in Japan are required to enroll in the National Pension System upon reaching the age of 20, and the payment of pension contributions is mandatory.

However, for students, there is a Student Special Payment Exemption System, under which payment of pension contributions may be deferred during the period of enrollment upon application.

In addition, there is a Pension Contribution Exemption and Payment Deferment System, which can be used in cases where it is financially difficult to pay pension contributions.

For further details, please refer to the website below or contact your local pension office or other relevant authorities.

Please note that Kanazawa University does not serve as a contact point for any application procedures related to these systems.
