Associate Professor Kento Aoki at Faculty of Regional Development Studies, Institute of Human and Social Sciences, Kanazawa University, Worldscan Project, Inc., Director Hironobu Suga of Research Center for Coastal Seafloor, Kyushu University and Professor Hideaki Goto of Hiroshima University have released topographic data of the sea area around Wajima Port, created using the latest "multi-beam acoustic bathymetry" technique, on July 1, 2012, on the following website.?

Associate Professor?Kento Aoki specializes in natural geography and disaster geomorphology, and has been actively involved in local research and survey activities as a member of the 2024 Noto Peninsula Earthquake Kanazawa University joint survey team. Therefore, he contributed to this survey, especially in providing ideas for survey planning and coordinating local logistics (providing connections with fishermen's cooperatives).

This research group plans to conduct submarine surveys off the northern coast of the Noto Peninsula to study seafloor topography and active faults. This research and the release of data will provide useful information to ocean users and is expected to contribute to reconstruction assistance.
