Kanazawa University Strategic Project for Development of Doctoral Students and Research Promotion (HaKaSe+)held a two?day AIoT Workshop from April 27 to 28 at the Natural Science and Technology Hall 2 on the Kakuma Campus. The workshop was jointly organized with National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU), a leading national university in Taiwan and one of the KU international partner institutions, and Realtek Semiconductor Corp., a globally recognized semiconductor company. The event brought together students and faculty members from a wide range of fields.????

The workshop program was planned through the joint efforts of Professor Cheng?Hung Lin, Vice President of Research and Development, Professor Hui?Ling Sung, Associate Vice President for Continuing Education at NTNU, and Professor Kenji Sato, . The program featured a broad range of practical and cutting?edge content, including overview of AIoT and edge devices, introductions to the latest AI technologies, data collection and annotation using AI devices, demonstrations of AI applications, and advanced model training. Prof. Kenji Sato Director of the HaKaSe+ for BOOST(Graduate School of Frontier Science Initiative), following the collaboration established during the HaKaSe+ Global Camp in Taiwan.

The workshop began with an introduction to NTNU by Professor Lin, giving participants deeper insight into university education and research activities in Taiwan. In the subsequent poster session, six NTNU graduate students and six AI?related students from our university presented their research, engaging in lively discussions and exchanges of ideas.??

During the lectures and hands?on sessions that followed, NTNU graduate students took the lead in instruction, and participants learned through practical exercises using AIoT devices provided by Realtek. They gained hands?on experience with sensor control and AI inference mechanisms and even attempted gesture?based control of miniature cars. In the final program, participants raced their own miniature cars, filling the venue with smiles and excitement as they refined their implementations and aimed for the finish line.

The workshop provided an energetic learning environment where participants deepened their understanding of AIoT and advanced technologies with broad applicability across disciplines.??

During the workshop, former NTNU President Cheng-Chih Wu, Dean Wen-Chung Kao of the college of Interdisciplinary Industry-Academia Innovation, Professor Lin, and Professor Sung met with Trustee (Provost, University Reform, Education, and Information)/Vice President Morimoto, Vice President(International Affairs) Hasebe, Dean Sakamoto of the Graduate School of Frontier Science Initiative, Dean Iiyama of the Institute of Transdisciplinary Sciences for Innovation, Dean Otsuka of the Graduate School of Natural Science and Technology, Dean Seto of the Institute of Science and Engineering, and Professor Sato. They exchanged views on further developing academic collaboration between NTNU and our university.????
