On February 27, Natural Science Lecture Hall II was completed on the Kakuma Campus of Kanazawa University. On March 31, a tour of the facility was held, attended by President Takashi Wada and other university personnel.

This facility was developed following its selection in July 2023 for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) program “Support Project for Strengthening University and College of Technology Functions (Support for Enhancing Functions to Secure Advanced Information Technology Professionals).” It will serve as a core facility in the fields of information engineering and digital integration, supporting Kanazawa University’s goal of establishing an “ecosystem for fostering advanced information professionals” who will contribute to society.

The first floor contains two lecture rooms with a capacity of 94 seats each and two lecture rooms with a capacity of 122 seats each. By opening the movable partitions, each pair of rooms can be combined into a single large room, accommodating up to approximately 200 and approximately 250 people, respectively. The second floor includes research spaces for information engineering and digital integration, as well as an interaction area equipped with a kitchen and meeting space, designed to promote active communication among users.

The facility is a two-story reinforced concrete building (with a steel-framed connecting corridor) and has a total floor area of 1,798 m? (including the corridor).

With the completion of this new building, education and research in information engineering and digital integration at Kanazawa University are expected to accelerate further, providing a vibrant environment for the growth and interaction of students who will lead the next generation.
