Kanazawa University was selected in FY2020 for the MEXT “Human Resource Development Project for Supporting Knowledge-Based Society (DP)”, and over the past five years has worked on the development and implementation of the “Program for Developing Social Change Leaders with Integrated Expertise and Agile Innovative Thinking.” Following the completion of the subsidized project in FY2024, the post-evaluation conducted in FY2025 awarded the program the highest rating, “S.”
In this project, Kanazawa University aimed to cultivate cross-disciplinary STEAM human resources who, grounded in deep expertise, can become core leaders in an era of major transformation toward a knowledge-based society, solve social issues through broad education and integrated humanities–science knowledge, and lead social change.
In the post-evaluation, the university was highly commended for its proactive efforts under the strong leadership of the President in the following four key areas. In addition, as the coordinating institution of the project, Kanazawa University collaborated with the nine selected universities and contributed significantly to disseminating the overall achievements of the program.
1] Establishment of a new college" College of Transdisciplinary Sciences for Innovation" that integrates the humanities and sciences
2] Introduction of a university-wide "Leading STEAM Human Resource Development Program
3] Significantly expand liberal arts education and make "STEAM education" a university-wide requirement
4] Establishment of "Center for Management of Teaching and Learning" to centrally manage academic management
