On March 9, the 17th Life Science Research Exchange Seminar was held in the Large Lecture Room of the Natural Science Lecture Hall, with a total of 55 faculty members and students participating.

Since 2015, Kanazawa University has been holding the Life Science Research Exchange Seminar to promote interdisciplinary research, particularly by creating opportunities for young researchers to present their work and engage in research exchange.

The seminar began with opening remarks by Trustee Shinichi Nakamura. This was followed by a special lecture by Associate Professor Shoya Matsuda of the Faculty of Electrical, Information and Communication Engineering, Institute of Science and Engineering, titled “Utilization of Electronic Information and Communication and AI Technologies in Space Science and Life Exploration,” in which he introduced examples such as the use of AI technologies in space weather measurement and natural electromagnetic wave observation. During the Q&A session, participants actively exchanged opinions on future prospects and the potential for integration with the life sciences field.

In the subsequent poster session, 16 young researchers selected for the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) Fusion Oriented Research for disruptive Science and Technology presented their free, challenging, and interdisciplinary research unconstrained by existing frameworks. Many researchers from various fields gathered in front of each poster, engaging in lively discussions. Finally, closing remarks were delivered by Professor Hiroshi Kawasaki of the Faculty of Medicine, Institute of Medical, Pharmaceutical and Health Sciences, who also serves as Chair of the Life Science Research Strategy Committee.

This seminar provided a valuable opportunity for further advancement of interdisciplinary research at Kanazawa University.
