For ten days from January 19 to 28, Kanazawa University welcomed six students from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras), one of our partner universities, for a short-term training program focused on Sustainability and SDGs.

The students took part in a series of lectures, laboratories visits and meeting professors from the Graduate School of Natural Science and Technology and field-based visits to several local companies where they learned about renewable energy, recycling systems and environmentally conscious manufacturing. Later, the group visited Shiramine village in Hakusan City and learned about sustainability practices 2 and deepened their understanding of the UNESCO Eco Park. Through experiencing daily life in a heavy snowfall region and interacting with local residents, they gained firsthand understanding of the resilience, cooperation, and traditional knowledge that support sustainable living in rural Japan.
