On December 18, the Student Suicide Prevention Specialist Committee, in cooperation with the University-wide FD Committee, held a "Student and Faculty Suicide Prevention Workshop" Kanazawa University for faculty and staff. 24 members of the committee participated in person, and a total of about 60 people attended via simultaneous online delivery.

This was the ninth training session, and after an opening address from Trustee Morimoto, Lecturer Fukuchi Naru of Tohoku Medical and Pharmaceutical University gave an easy-to-understand lecture entitled "Suicide Prevention and Support at Universities - From the Clinical and Disaster Relief Fields," which included specific data on suicide, with the aim of providing insight into how to approach population health issues.

He also explained about issues and depression in childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood, and said that while the high-risk approach (investing resources in those at high risk) in a group is important, the key is to go back to what kind of population approach (investing resources evenly throughout the group) is effective. The key is to go back to what kind of population approach is effective (i.e., to invest resources evenly throughout the entire population).

A recording of this lecture will be made available at a later date so that it can be viewed by all faculty members.
