On December 5, Frontier Science and Social Co-creation Initiative held a "Bus Tour to Noto Reconstruction Sites" as a joint project of the Co-Creation Enterprise and Human Resource Development Program (*1) and Project: AERU (*2). Sixteen researchers and students enrolled in the program participated, gaining an opportunity to understand the current situation in the disaster-affected areas and to reflect on possible ways to provide support.

Participants first visited Wakura Onsen in Nanao City, where they were guided by Hiroko Mori from the Reconstruction Promotion Department of Noto Kyoei Shinkin Bank (on loan from Kagaya). She explained the situation during the earthquake and the current challenges, and participants observed the present state of the hot spring town. After the visit, they exchanged opinions on issues and support measures for reconstruction.

Afterward, participants boarded the Noto Railway "Earthquake Storytelling Sightseeing Train," where they listened to accounts of the situation at the time of the earthquake and the progress of reconstruction along the railway line. This experience deepened their understanding of the region’s appeal and its current circumstances.

Participants shared comments such as: "I was able to understand the commitment of local governments and related organizations to maintaining employment—something that cannot be grasped through observation alone—and strongly felt the importance of medium-term initiatives"; "I realized the need for a perspective that considers reconstruction as a business while empathizing with the feelings of local residents"; and "It was very inspiring to talk with graduate students and working professionals."
