On October 23, KEYPAT(*1), a support team for mental health care, held a mindfulness lecture and practice program "Stress Management and Mindfulness" at G1 Open Studio, Natural Science and Technology Library. Fourteen students and faculty members from Kanazawa University participated. Mindfulness is a method of intentionally directing attention to the present moment without making value judgments ! especially useful when one is overwhelmed by unpleasant memories or anxious thoughts about the future, making it difficult to focus on what is in front of them. Centered around ^walking meditation, ̄ the program included a brief lecture and practical exercises on mindfulness. Participants also shared their stress coping strategies and discussed their impressions after the experience.

Participants shared various impressions, such as realizing that meditation is not limited to sitting and that incorporating walking helped reduce distracting thoughts; feeling a sense of comfort they had not experienced recently and expressing a desire to continue practicing regularly; finding the practice somewhat difficult but also refreshing, which motivated them to keep trying; and gaining a deeper understanding of meditation while feeling refreshed, making them glad they participated.

(*1) ^KEYPAT ̄ is an abbreviation of the Kanazawa Educational Yell Psychological Assistance Team.
