On October 20, students from the Work Group Clean Studio of the Senior Division of Kanazawa University Affiliated School for Special Needs Education took part in beautifying the environment of the Heiwamachi Campus.

This activity was conducted as part of the work-study program and continued the pruning of trees along the road next to the Affiliated Elementary School grounds, following the previous activity conducted from late May to early June. The trees along the perimeter road that we worked on will become an obstruction to cars and pedestrians as they grow. The students in the work group completed the pruning of the trees along the perimeter road by carefully pruning and collecting branches as they had done before, while keeping in mind the goal of making the road traffic smoother for the neighborhood residents. After the work, the school staff thanked the students for their hard work.

As part of their vocational learning, students at the Affiliated School for Special Needs Education engage in various activities such as beautifying the environment of the Kanazawa University’s campuses and facilities, producing cookies as commercial products, operating a cafe, and undertaking commissioned work from companies. Through these experiences, students develop the skills necessary for employment after graduation. By working not only within the school but also outside in the community, they learn essential social manners and etiquette, and gain a sense of fulfillment from contributing to society through their work.
