On October 7, Kanazawa University hosted its first-ever “On-Campus Special Lecture” at the Kakuma Campus, where top executives from leading automobile manufacturers spoke directly to students. The event drew around 270 participants, including students, faculty, and staff. This lecture series, organized by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, has been held at universities across Japan since 2013, marking its 12th edition this year.

The representative director and president of Suzuki Corporation, Mr. Toshihiro Suzuki, visited as a lecturer and provided an explanation on the trends surrounding the entire automotive industry and his company's global strategy. Additionally, he mentioned that Suzuki holds the number one domestic market share in India and is aiming for an annual production system of 4 million units in the future. He also introduced the company’s efforts to contribute to the country's energy policy by utilizing biogas fuel technology, while simultaneously addressing social issues such as improving the standard of living and promoting women's participation in society.??

At the southern area of the Kakuma Campus, both indoors and in the courtyard, Suzuki showcased its latest technologies — including the motorcycle that competed in the Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance Road Race and various electric mobility devices. Through hands-on experiences and interactions with engineers and other professionals, students deepened their understanding of the challenges the mobility industry is tackling for the future.

After the lecture, President Suzuki participated in an interactive session called "ZATSUDAN NO CHIKARA"(the Power of Casual Conversations). During this session, he offered the advice: "Always think from the customer's perspective and maintain an engineer's viewpoint that leads to overall optimization. What’s most important is having conviction." The students listened attentively, showing great interest in his words.

Kanazawa University Career Support Office will continue to provide career development support that helps students broaden their perspectives on their career paths and inspires them to become global professionals with a sense of mission as members of the international community.
