On March 17, the awards ceremony for the 1st "PLIJ STEAM Research Grand Prix", sponsored by the Platform for Innovation in Learning in Japan (PLIJ), was held at the Convention Hall of the Institute of Industrial Science, University of Tokyo, and Kanazawa University Center for Management of Teaching and Learning won the grand prize.
This award recognizes organizations that are making particularly outstanding efforts in promoting STEAM education and inquiry-based learning, and is supported by the Cabinet Office, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, the Ministry of Economy, the Japan Business Federation, the Japan Association of Corporate Executives, and the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Despite this being the first year of the award, there were 81 applications from across the country, and after rigorous screening, 10 Grand Prize winners and 2 Special Prize winners were selected. After the award ceremony, a report session was held by the award winners. Professor Toru Hayashi from the Kanazawa University Center for Management of Teaching and Learning made a presentation.
In response to the nationwide recognition of Kanazawa University 's STEAM education initiatives, we will continue to promote further educational reforms and strive to create an environment that fosters students' inquisitive minds.
