On February? ?18, Kanazawa University Industry-Academia Collaboration Research Group, chaired by Professor Matsushima Daisuke from the Faculty of Transdisciplinary Sciences for Innovation, Institute of Transdisciplinary Sciences for Innovation, participated in the Emperor's Birthday Celebration Reception held in Bangkok, Kingdom of Thailand, to support the Noto reconstruction efforts and promote the appeal of Ishikawa Prefecture.

The reception was hosted by the Embassy of Japan in Thailand and held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok, and was attended by approximately 2,500 people familiar with Japan, including Thai dignitaries, Japanese officials in Thailand, and representatives of various embassies.

Starting from 2023, Kanazawa University Industry-Academia Collaboration Research Group send students, mainly from the College of School of Entrepreneurial and Innovation Studies, to Thailand, India, and Vietnam to explore the possibility of new business ventures in emerging countries for participating companies through the "2 x 2 Entrepreneurship Internship." The group is also working to expand the sales channels of Ishikawa Prefecture's industries overseas in preparation for the recovery from the Noto Peninsula earthquake 2024. As part of this effort, Professor Matsushima and three students introduced Ishikawa Prefecture's traditional industrial products at a booth, courtesy of the Embassy of Japan in Bangkok, and also shared their efforts in the recovery of Noto.

Particularly popular were the fine sake from Ishikawa Prefecture and the Ishikawa Prefectural Sake Brewers Association, the performance of scattering gold leaf from Hakuichi Co., Ltd. into sake cups, the Nanao candles from Takazawa Shoten, and the practical traditional crafts such as Wajima lacquerware and Yamanaka lacquerware from Araki Lacquerware Shop. Additionally, at Maruhachi Tea Factory, they offered tea of the sticks, allowing participants to enjoy aromas and flavors beyond the commonly known matcha culture, leading to many inquiries about purchasing in Thailand.

This event was made possible thanks to the generous support of the Ishikawa Prefectural Government and local businesses, who provided Ishikawa's famous products. Students were also involved in the planning and running of the event, spreading the appeal of Ishikawa to the world and gaining a practical opportunity to learn about marketing.
