On February 7th, Kanazawa University Frontier Institute of Tourism Sciences held an opening ceremony for the "Kanazawa University Frontier Institute of Tourism Sciences Hakusan Satellite" located in Shiramine, Hakusan City (※).
Kanazawa University has signed a comprehensive partnership agreement with Hakusan City, and is promoting educational and research activities that utilize local resources, geoparks, renewable energy, etc. The Hakusan Satellite was established as a base for these activities.
The opening ceremony was attended by local government officials, including Hakusan Mayor Toshikazu Tamura and Ishikawa Prefecture Planning and Promotion Executive Director Mie Takahashi, as well as local residents and Kanazawa University students working in Shiramine.
In the future, the Hakusan Satellite will be utilized as a base for students and researchers to work together with local residents to promote tourism and revitalize the Shiramine region.
※ Shiramine: the name of an "Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings" in Hakusan City, Ishikawa Prefecture.
