From February 13 to 16, a pre-event for the Osaka-Kansai Expo to be held in August was held at TIB (Tokyo Innovation Base) in Tokyo. Kanazawa University COI-NEXT "Renewable Polysaccharide Plant COI-NEXT "Center for Co-creation of Resource Recycling Society by Renewable Polysaccharide Plant-derived Plastics" exhibited at the event.
In the exhibition space, there was an experiential exhibition centered on Project 7 "Marine degradable polymers that cultivate the sea" (Professor Yutaka Takeuchi from Institute of Science and Engineering, Faculty of Biological Science and Technology), with the theme "A society where the blessings of biomass circulate - How can plant-derived plastics change our future?".
In the hands-on exhibits, visitors, mainly parents and children, were seen looking at exhibits such as observing the biodegradation of bioplastics under a microscope, cellulose acetate pellets made from wood, and microplastics found in crab stomachs. In addition, name tags made from fish leather were provided to those who requested them.
The exhibition space at this site received approximately 400 visitors over the four-day period, and the pre-event served as a demonstration opportunity for the main event (the main exhibition) at Expo Osaka/Kansai.
