On January 21, Frontier Institute of Tourism Sciences held a joint symposium with Frontier Research Institute of Convergence Sports Science of Yonsei University (Korea) at the Natural Science Building on the Kanazawa University Kakuma Campus.
The two universities signed an interdepartmental collaboration agreement in March 2024, and held a kickoff symposium at Yonsei University on March 14 of the same year. This was the second time the two universities have held a symposium, and five faculty members and four graduate students from Yonsei University visited the Kanazawa University.
At the symposium, Professor Justin Jeon of Yonsei University and his colleagues reported on cutting-edge research results on exercise and health. Next, from Frontier Institute of Tourism Sciences, Assistant Professor ZHANG LINGHAN from Kanazawa University Faculty of Transdisciplinary Sciences for Innovation, Institute of Transdisciplinary Sciences for Innovation reported on the effects of social media on tourism, and Ms. Maimaitiniyazi Mamuti from the Graduate School of Human and Socio-Environmental Studies reported on tourism science in the Chaya district of Kanazawa City.
During the panel discussion, Professor Akihiro Nomura from the Faculty of Transdisciplinary Sciences for Innovation, Institute of Transdisciplinary Sciences for Innovation acted as facilitator, and Professor Jeon and Professor Joon Sung Lee from Yonsei University and visiting researcher Risa Kuwahara from Frontier Institute of Tourism Sciences, took to the stage and exchanged views. There was a lively discussion on the prospects for future joint research between the two institutes, with the theme of the development of tourism science. In addition, the Mayor of Hakuba Village (Nagano Prefecture) Toshiro Maruyama, who was visiting the university for the signing ceremony of a partnership agreement with Frontier Institute of Tourism Sciences, College of Transdisciplinary Sciences for Innovation, suddenly joined the event as a special guest, and provided valuable suggestions from the perspectives of government and industry, further deepening the discussion.
We look forward to further cooperation and exchange between the two universities in the future.
