On January 31, the Kanazawa University College of Medical, Pharmaceutical and Health Sciences, School of Pharmacy conducted the "White Coat Ceremony." Starting in the spring, fourth-year students in the School of Pharmacy will begin practical training at Kanazawa University 's Hospital, pharmacies and hospitals in Ishikawa Prefecture, where they will learn the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required of pharmacists. This ceremony is held to promote awareness and a sense of responsibility as medical professionals when entering the clinical field.
During the speach Professor Yukio Kato, the Head of the School of Farmacy, said "Wearing a white coat means a heavy responsibility as a medical professional and an important role as a member of the medical team. Through this valuable experience in the clinical field, you will learn about problems in medicine and how drugs are used, and after the training, you will think about how teach of you can contribute to solving those problems". Each student was given a white coat with the school emblem and name on it, and they immediately put on their brand-new white coats. After that, words of encouragement were given by Mr. Hironobu Kashiwahara, Vice President of the Ishikawa Prefectural Pharmacists Association, and Mr. Satoshi Morito, President of the Ishikawa Prefectural Hospital Pharmacists Association.
The student representatives recited the oath " we recognize that pharmacist work is a job that involves human life, and we want to tackle this training with a sincere attitude and a sense of urgency, and strive to provide better medical care".
