Kanazawa University students conduct volunteer activities at the Children's Cafeteria in Wajima City

Students from Kanazawa University 's extracurricular activity group, Kanazawa University Volunteer Support Station (Borasapo), and their advisor, Lecturer Kaisei Harada from Institute of Human and Social Sciences, Faculty of Economics and Management, are continually engaged in exchange activities with local residents.

On January 10, 17, and 24, volunteers participated in "Atsumaranke-Noto! Cafe" that was held by Kanazawa City Information Plaza for Welfare Equipment! Cafe" held by the Kanazawa City Welfare Equipment Information Plaza. Participants had a lively discussion about events they could enjoy in Kanazawa and their future life in Kanazawa.

On January 12 and 26, Borasapo hosted the "Yottekimasshi Exchange Meeting" in Uchinada Town, where students interacted with residents of the Mukaiawagasaki area. On the 12, vilunteers enjoyed conversations with the participants while playing cards. On the 26, they held a foot bath for the first time since the earthquake, and participants interacted while warming their bodies.

On January 19, at the "Let's Go! Exchange Meeting" kaleidoscopes creating workshop, using milk cartons, was held for people who had been evacuated to secondary shelters. "Let's Go! Exchange Meeting" is regularly conducting in collaboration with "11 no Kai," an organization made up of victims and supporters of the Great East Japan Earthquake.

On January 14 and 21, Borasapo hosted the "Hoshizora Cafe" at the Anamizu Town Sumiyoshi Community Center and held exchange salon activities with people affected by the disaster. The participants enjoyed chatting about how they spent time at the year-end and New Year holidays and about special products of Anamizu Town.

On January 25, students participated in a children's cafeteria "Wa Mosso Children's Restaurant" hosted by the Child Welfare Division of the Wajima City Council of Social Welfare. Volunteers watched the children do their homework, played Kendama and Shogi (Japanese chess), and enjoyed eating together.
