On January 8 and 20, Health Service Center held a nutrition education program event "Tasting simple breakfast soup with plenty of vegetables" as part of its student support program at the Natural Science Building and the General Education Lecture Hall.
The purpose of this tasting event was to introduce students the simple recipes for soups and other dishes to prevent students from missing breakfast. A crew of student volunteers from the center served take-out soups with recipes under the guidance of a registered dietitian.
The menu for this event was "Ishikawa Prefecture's Local Cuisine, Mettajiru soup with lots of ingredients" and "Simple zenzai with shiratama and tofu mixed in." For the Mettajiru soup, we used miso that we purchased when we visited Suzu to support the disaster. Many students gathered before the event started, and the soup sold out in a flash.
Purchasers said: "It was delicious. It warmed me up in the cold season", "It tasted like my mother's. I am grateful that it is inexpensive and so nutritious. The soup was very satisfying with the gentle flavor of bonito and stewed vegetables", "The zenzai was very sticky and delicious" and "I think the white beans in the zenzai were in perfect harmony with the sweetness of the azuki beans".
