On January 19th, students from Kanazawa University 's extracurricular activity group, Volunteer Support Station (Borasapo), together with the Kanazawa Institute of Technology Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Project SoRA, participated in a disaster prevention education event hosted by Kanazawa Energy Co., Ltd. called "Let's think about disaster prevention in our own home through quizzes and workshops! Kanazawa Energy Sonaenasai - Parents and children discussing how to prepare for disasters."
On the day of the event, Borasapo students presented a lecture titled "Let's think about it! What would we do if an earthquake happened now? quiz". During the lecture students talked about life-saving poses to take immediately after a disaster strikes, actions to take after the shaking stops, confirming the location of evacuation centers and dangers before moving, contents and usage of disaster prevention bags, recommended equipment, and more.
They also participated with the children in suth booths as "Hand-cranked power-generating light" and "Making disaster prevention goods from newspapers" organized by Kanazawa Energy Co., Ltd., and in "Disaster prevention quiz" organized by the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Project SoRA.
Students prepared individual booth displaying posters introducing volunteer activities carried out in 2024, bamboo lanterns, and other creative items and talked about the current situation in Noto.
