On December 14, public lecture titled "Modern history of Osaka Castle" took place at Kakumachi Plaza with 11 participants ranging from high school students to those in their 70s.
Professor Yasuharu Nogawa from Institute of Human and Social Sciences Faculty of Humanities introduced his knowledge about Osaka Castle tower built by Hideyoshi Toyotomi and its foundations such as stonewalls and moats, and traced the history of reconstruction from the Tokugawa period, to the end of the Edo period, the Meiji Restoration, the period of establishment of divisions, the "Osaka" period, and to the present days. Then, he explained the results of the postwar excavation of "Toyotomi's Castle" and Kanazawa Castle as a historical heritage.
Participants commented: "I remember seeing about the excavation survey on TV in the past, but I was able to learn about it in a systematic way" and "It was interesting to learn that it was only recently constructed as a symbol, and how the castle has been treated in modern times"
