On December 5, meeting presenting the results of Kanazawa University trial version of "Job-based Research Internship (URA)" was held.
This internship is a unique arrangement of the "job-type research internship" jointly established by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology 's Higher Education Bureau and the Japan Business Federation, in which Kanazawa University participates. The program is limited for doctoral and postdoctoral students of Kanazawa University, and the internship location is limited to Kanazawa University. It was first implemented as a trial version in October this year.
Two students who participated in the URA internship program at Frontier Science and Social Co-creation Initiative for about two months from October took the podium at the presentation session. The students reported on the content of their internship activities, the results they obtained, and their future prospects. They also expressed their impressions: "Through the internship, I gained a deeper understanding of URA work" and "It was a good opportunity to think about research from a different perspective than before. Afterwards, an exchange of opinions took place with the participating audience members.
Finally, Trustee Nakamura (in charge of research, social co-creation, and graduate school support) commented: "The main purpose of this trial was to introduce the URA as a career path for doctoral candidates. I would like students to know that URA is an option when considering your future career path".
