On November 23, Kanazawa University Choir participated for the first time after 12 years in the All Japan Choir Competition that was held in Ehime Prefecture and win the gold prize in the Universities division. The national competition is open to choirs selected through prefectural and branch competitions.

The assigned piece, "Shichirigahama", written by Kitaro Nishida and composed by Ikuma Dan, expresses the waves rolling in and out, and feelings of those gazing at the sea and the feelings of the sea watching over them, with a bright tone mixed with a touch of sadness. The free piece was Prologue I and II from "Mimi wo Sumasu", written by Shuntaro Tanikawa and composed by Takaaki Horiuchi, for mixed chorus and percussion. Many onomatopoeic words such as "crisp" and "crackling" are used in the piece to express the texture of each sound.

This performance will be presented at the regular concert on January 25, 2025. For details, please click here.
