Students from Kanazawa University 's extracurricular activity group Volunteer Support Station, and their leader, Lecturer Kaisei Harada from the Faculty of Economics and Management, School of Institute of Human and Social Sciences, have been continuously engaged in disaster relief activities since the Noto Peninsula earthquake of 2024 and the Noto Peninsula torrential rain disaster in September 2024.
On October 12th, together with the Waseda University Hirayama Ikuo Memorial Volunteer Center (WAVOC), they carried out damaged belongings and removed mud from drains in Wajima City, and at the Fukami Center (former Fukami Elementary School) in Fukami-cho, Wajima City, they transported damaged items taken from nearby damaged houses to the center. On October 14th, 19th, and 27th, together with general volunteers, they carried out damaged belongings, cleaned houses, and removed mud that had accumulated in gardens and drains at private homes in Kawai-cho.
Additionally, on November 2nd, together with Associate Professor Kawasumi Atsushi of the Faculty of Transdisciplinary Sciences for Innovation, Institute of Transdisciplinary Sciences for Innovation, students from the School of Tourism Sciences and Design, and students and faculty from Toyo University and Meiji Gakuin University, they organized the storehouse and distributed relief supplies at Juzo Shrine in Wajima City, and on November 5th and 6th, they transported relief supplies at Juzo Shrine in Wajima City together with staff from the Public Interest Foundation for Coexistence and Regional Creation.
