Students from Kanazawa University Volunteer Support Station and their advisor, Lecturer Kaisei Harada from Faculty of Economics and Management, Institute of Human and Social Sciences, have been continuing exchange activities with the people affected by Noto Peninsula earthquake of 2024 and the Okunoto torrential rainfall in September 2024.
Every Friday since June of this year, they participated in the "Atsumaranke-noto!", which has been held at the Kanazawa Welfare Equipment Information Plaza for the distribution of relief supplies and a listening salon for secondary evacuees, and deepened exchanges with the people affected by the disaster in the Okunoto area. On November 14, together with the participants of the salon, they harvested radishes and taro in a field in Kanazawa City.
In addition, they plan and hold workshops twice a month at the "Ikumaika Exchange Meeting," which is jointly held with the "11 Associations" organized by the people affected by Great East Japan Earthquake and their supporters. In October, they played boccia and made mizuhiki accessories, and in November, they made resin accessories. On December 15th, they are planning to hold a Christmas event.
