On November 12, as part of the Leading STEAM Human Resource Development Program (KU-STEAM), a "Gakusei Social Studies Field Trip" was held in cooperation with Hachiban Co., Ltd.,. Eleven students and faculty participated.
The Gakusei social studies field trip is a project aimed at encouraging students to think from multiple angles through experiences that utilize the characteristics of the region and through interactions with people, and as a step toward creating new solutions to social issues and innovations.
At Hachiban Foods Park, the company's head office and factory in Kawakita-machi, Nomi-gun, the participants heard from Senior Managing Director Yoshimura Yoshinori about the company's history and efforts at global expansion. Afterwards, the participants were given a tour of the manufacturing processes for noodles, dumplings, and packaging, with guidance and explanations from Factory Manager Hayashi Hiroki.
After the tour, there was a Q&A session with the company's human resources manager and new employees, during which the participating students actively asked questions and deepened their understanding of the company's initiatives.
Participants commented, "The factory tour gave me a chance to discover what goes on behind the scenes," and "I thought Hachiban Corporation is a company that is highly motivated to take on new challenges, such as launching new businesses of soba noodle stores and charcoal grill restaurants in addition to ramen stores.
