On November 13, Kanazawa University and Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST) held a DEMO DAY of "Tech Startup HOKURIKU" (TeSH), a startup creation platform involving 12 universities and 3 technical colleges in Hokuriku region. DEMO DAY was held at the ANA Crowne Plaza Hotel Kanazawa.
At this event, the representative researchers of 21 themes adopted in the "TeSH GAP Fund Program STEP 1" gave 90-second presentations and exhibited posters. At the same time, 34 VCs and accelerators from 18 companies participated in the premium session, which was held behind closed doors, and interim evaluations of all 21 themes and matching with commercial promotion organizations for STEP2 (R&D support of up to 60 million yen over three years) were conducted.
The event was a great success with many participants from inside and outside of the Hokuriku region. In the premium session, many people from commercial promotion organizations showed interest to the Hokuriku region, which further raised expectations for the creation of startups from academia in the region.
TeSH will continue to promote the creation of academia-originated startups through collaboration between industry, academia, government and financial institutions across the Hokuriku region.
