On October 20, the first session of the open lecture "Advanced Course on Ancient Documents" was held at Kakumachi Plaza with 23 participants in their 50s to 90s.
In the first session, Professor Hisao Ueda from Institute of Human and Social Sciences, Faculty of Humanities took up an old document from the late domain period from Kaga Domain, and explained how to sort tribute rice and prepare rice bales by reading and interpreting the letter one by one.
The students with a kuzushi-ji dictionary in hands, tried to understand the complicated typefaces, referring to the answers provided.
During the course of four lectures, the students will deepen their understanding of the social characteristics of the Edo period while experiencing the real life of the Kaga Domain.
