On May 11, an open lecture entitled "Fundamentals of Cancer Research" was held at Kakumachi Plaza, with 20 participants from their teens to their 70s.
At first, Professor Takeyuki Suzuki , Director of Cancer Research Institute, gave a greeting and introduced the philosophy and history of the institute. Professor Atsushi Hirao from Nano Life Science Institute gave a presentation on "Cancer, Nutrition, and Metabolism: Survival Strategies of Cancer and Host" and explained "Diet and Cancer Risk," "Nutrient Metabolism and Survival Strategies of Cancer Cells," and "Effect of Cancer Cells on Nutrient Metabolism of the Body (Host)," then he introduced the program "Cancer Institute EEP" on cancer research for high school students using a video presentation.
During the Q&A session, there were questions and explanations about side effects of chemotherapy, second opinions, cachexia, etc., which deepened the understanding of the lecture content. Students commented that they would like to participate in the Cancer Institute EEP, and that they will be carefull about diet in order not to get cancer.
