On May 7, Frontier Science and Social Co-creation Initiative Human Resource Development Group held ZATSUDAN NO CHIKARA: "Let's talk with Kanazawa University OBs" at Kakuma Campus as part of Project: AERU! -How to make the most of your strengths in your career". 11 students from the university participated.
ZATSUDAN NO CHIKARA is a program that creates opportunities for casual chats between students, faculty and staff, and people in the community. By freely discussing with each other without being restricted by occupation, industry, or position, we hope to help students to develop their careers and generate ideas for faculty, staff, and participating companies.
First, Kanazawa University President Takashi Wada gave a greeting speech. After that two of our alumni, Mr. Toshio Miyazawa, Attorney at Law from Miyazawa & Uchida Law Office, and Mr. Naoki Nishida, Director of North Pacific Bank, spoke about how they spent their school days and what they have done in their careers.
Then during the discussion time, we asked Mr. Miyazawa, who has experience as both a prosecutor and a lawyer, "What motivated you to study hard for the bar exam? Which was more rewarding, being a prosecutor or a lawyer? and "Which was more rewarding, being a prosecutor or a lawyer?" The discussion was also very lively with Mr. Nishida, who also serves as an outside director of the Great East Japan Earthquake Enterprise Turnaround Initiative Corporation, regarding the support for the Noto Peninsula Earthquake of 2024.
Both guests said, "As lawyers, we have seen many lives, and we want to tell people that you can change your life as much as you want." "I think it's best to make the most of your specialty, but don't let that narrow your perspective. Be interested in a variety of things".
The participating students said, "I would never heard such a talk if I lived a normal life. I am glad to participate in this event because I was able to get a glimpse of the world of finance and the legal profession". "It made me want to experience more and more things while I am still a university student, and it also improved my motivation to learn." "It was very interesting to hear about a field I was not interested in. It broadened my world. I would like to participate again".
