On October 28, the 17th Homecoming Day was held at the Kakuma Campus of Kanazawa University and about 180 alumni took a part in this event.

At the welcome ceremony, first, Kanazawa University Choir sang the school song. Next, President Wada and Takeki Ataka, Chairman of Kanazawa University Alumni Association, gave greetings. After that, Masako Yamagishi Vice President reported about the current status of the university.

Beside this, three students reported on their activities. First, a student who studied in France talked about what he learned through his study abroad experience and his future goals. The student who is currently conducting research at a graduate school talked about content and appeal of his current research. At last, students belonging to the equestrian club reported on the activities of their organization and its relationship with the local community.

In a special lecture titled "Working for Public Health @ Kasumigaseki," Dr. Yasuyuki Sahara, former Director General of the Health Bureau of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (graduated from the School of Medicine in 1989), spoke about the drastic changes in population structure and the importance of healthy life. Participants listened with great interest.

The gathering after the welcome ceremony was held without restrictions for the first time for four years, where everyone sang the school and dormitory songs and renewed old friendships while reminiscing about their student days.

This year, a virtual campus tour was held to recreate the old castle campus in a virtual space based on photos of the campus provided by alumni, and participants enjoyed the experience of stepping back in time to their old school.

A video of the welcome ceremony is available on the official YouTube page at Kanazawa University. Please take a look.
