Event Details
The Kanazawa University X Program will hold a special lecture titled “The Future of Local Communities Interpreted through Map?Based Statistics (jSTAT MAP)”, in which participants will analyze regional data using open data from Ishikawa Prefecture and the GIS tool jSTAT MAP, provided by the government statistics portal e?Stat, to visualize and interpret statistical information.
Participants will learn practical data?utilization skills, such as predicting areas where vacant houses are likely to increase by overlaying the number of elderly households and owner?occupied households, creating disaster?prevention maps based on evacuation?site location data, and visualizing satisfaction levels of tourist facilities. Through data?driven approaches to real regional issues, the lecture will explore insights that can contribute to vacant?house countermeasures and regional revitalization.
The lecture is designed so that even those new to data analysis or jSTAT MAP can participate. Anyone interested in visualization tools or data utilization is encouraged to join.
— What Is the Kanazawa University X Program? —?
In 2024, Kanazawa University’s initiative Kanazawa University “Data Anonymization ? Humanities Master’s Degree = Value Creation” Human Resource Development Project (X Program) was selected for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology’s project “Building Graduate Education for Double Majors Combining Digital Fields.” Based on this, the X Program was launched in April 2026 within the Graduate School of Human and Socio?Environmental Studies.??
This program teaches technologies such as data anonymization, data analysis methods, data research techniques, and related legal knowledge. By combining these with expertise in the humanities, the program aims to cultivate professionals capable of creating new value— a “Data Privacy Expert Training Program.”
