[Title] Molecular Mechanisms of Metabolic Regulation and Carcinogenesis in the Liver
[Speaker] Dr. Michihiro Matsumoto (Director, Molecular Metabolic Regulation Research Division, Diabetes Research Center, National Center for Global Health and Medicine)
Fat accumulation in the liver is known to be a trigger for chronic liver inflammation, fibrosis, and eventually liver cirrhosis and liver cancer. The accumulation of fat in the liver is closely related to the metabolism of carbohydrates, lipids, amino acids, and other substances.
Dr. Matsumoto and his colleagues have advanced the understanding of the pathological conditions caused by fat accumulation through analyses of models with liver fatty acid synthase (Fasn) deficiency, which leads to liver fat accumulation in conditions such as overnutrition and obesity.
In this seminar, the latest findings on how metabolic regulation affects the progression from fatty liver to liver cancer will be presented.
We look forward to your attendance.
