Event Details
Earthquakes, volcano eruptions, heavy rains, landslides. These natural disasters occur frequently in Japan. But there are places where it occurs more often. Natural disasters do not occur everywhere with the same frequency. Also, if it occurs, it does not necessary become a "disaster".
The scale and extent of a natural disaster will vary greatly depending on how residents in the area where a natural disaster occurs prepare and how they act in case of an emergency. In order to prepare for natural disasters, it is important to have a good understanding of the natural disasters, and the first step in preparing for a disaster is to know what types of disaster could occur in the area where you live.
Participants will learn how to read hazard maps, a tool for preparing for natural disasters, in lectures, and then deepen their understanding of the regions prone to natural disaster by observing the city in the field.
